Editorial and Corrections Policy

CashPal writes about credit, and credit decisions have consequences. This page sets out how our guides and loan pages are researched, checked, updated and corrected, so you can judge how much weight to give what you read here — and tell us when we get something wrong.

Who writes our content

Our guides and product pages are produced by CashPal’s editorial desk, staffed by the credit operations people who assess applications day to day. You can see who writes and reviews our content on our contributors page. Where an article carries a named byline, that person is responsible for its content.

How we research

Claims about Australian credit law, fees, consumer rights and complaints handling are sourced from primary and regulatory material rather than secondary commentary. In practice that means:

Where we rely on an external source for a specific claim, we link to it so you can check it yourself.

How we keep product facts accurate

Loan amounts, terms, fee caps, eligibility and repayment examples are held in a single controlled data source and rendered from it. The same figures feed our page copy, our FAQs, our repayment examples and our structured data, so a product change updates everywhere at once rather than leaving stale numbers on individual pages.

Fee figures we publish are the maximum caps set by Australian law, not a quote. The fees and total repayable that apply to you are itemised in your credit contract before you sign. Our credit guide and target market determination set out the product in full.

How we fact-check and review

Before publishing, content is checked against the current product rules and against CashPal’s obligations as the holder of Australian Credit Licence 509422. Articles marked “Fact checked” in their byline have had their factual claims verified against the sources above. Anything describing eligibility, fees, timing or consumer rights is reviewed for compliance before it goes live.

We do not publish claims we cannot support. We avoid unqualified promises such as guaranteed approval or instant funding; where timing depends on your bank, your income, or our assessment, we say so.

How we update content

Credit rules, fee caps and our own product change over time. Pages that carry a byline show a “Last updated” date, and that date reflects when the content itself was last reviewed or changed — not when the site was last deployed. Our sitemap uses those same dates, so search engines are told the truth about freshness.

When a change is substantive — a fee cap moves, eligibility changes, the law changes — we update the page and its date. Minor typographical fixes do not reset the date.

Corrections — how to report an error

If you think something on this site is wrong, misleading or out of date, tell us and we will look into it. Email hello@cashpal.com.au with the page address and what you believe is incorrect.

  • We acknowledge reports of factual errors and investigate them.
  • Where a claim is wrong, we correct it and update the page’s “Last updated” date.
  • Where a correction is material — it could have changed a borrowing decision — we note the correction on the page rather than quietly editing it.
  • If your report is a complaint about our service rather than our content, it goes through our dispute resolution process, which carries a 21-day final response and access to AFCA at no cost to you.

Our commercial interest

CashPal is a credit provider and referral service. We earn revenue from the loans we write and from referrals to our lending partners, and we may receive a referral fee. That means our content is not independent financial advice and is not a substitute for it.

We state this plainly rather than burying it: when we describe our own product, we say so, and we link to independent sources such as MoneySmart and the free National Debt Helpline on 1800 007 007 so you can compare options, including options that cost you nothing.
