The short answer

A weekend loan is a small personal loan, $500 to $2,000, applied for on a Saturday or Sunday when banks and government services are closed. It suits people who hit an unexpected cost after Friday and can’t wait until Monday to deal with it. CashPal accepts applications online seven days a week and sends funds once your contract is signed — when they arrive depends on your bank’s weekend processing. Applicants need to be 18 or over, living in Australia, with a regular income and an active bank account.

Solve financial problems during the weekend

Bills don’t take a break during the weekend, so CashPal has designed weekend loans for urgent bills that need to be handled when even banks can’t help you.

As the week progresses and your bank account dwindles, your stress level will surely rise if you are short on cash. If you are experiencing difficulties and are concerned about how you will pay for expenses over the weekend, remember that support is available in various forms and may be found at reasonable charges if you know where to look. With CashPal, you can get a low-interest weekend loan with minimal hassle, approved within an hour.

You can get the money you need to get by with a weekend loan or accessing your pay early until you get paid by applying for one of our weekend loans. And luckily, with well-recognised and trustworthy financing partners like CashPal, you can have complete confidence in the security of a loan repayment plan that is as adaptable as your situation.

The CashPal mascot — weekend loans

Before you loan, ask yourself: do you need a weekend loan?

If you need money quickly and don’t have access to funds — or relatives or friends who may lend you the money — a weekend loan may be your only option. We all recognise how difficult it is to borrow money from family, and you may start looking for short-term finance options. Lenders might be dishonest when they see that you’re in a state of desperation, and given your limited alternatives, they might charge you exorbitant interest rates.

CashPal is different. We are an online loan provider that offers unsecured personal loans at competitive interest rates and convenient payback schedules for those in financial binds. Borrow up to $2,000 and pay it back in any way you choose once you’ve built up some extra cash. If you sign your CashPal contract between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. on business days, we will send the funds into your bank account instantly. If the loan is not processed before the end of the business day, it will be delayed until the next business day — your bank’s clearing times will determine how quickly you’ll see the funds.

Why choose CashPal’s weekend loans?

Several lenders offer emergency cash loans in Australia, but they do not all work in the same way or provide the same services. Here at CashPal, we strive to make each and every one of our customers feel that they are the most critical part of our business. Since no two clients have the same budgetary constraints, we tailor a financing plan according to your needs after considering the specifics of your circumstance.

Our experts will undertake a comprehensive evaluation of your financial condition after you have submitted your original application using our user-friendly web form. We will let you know if we believe it is possible to help you save money by restructuring or consolidating your debts. If we can’t provide you with the weekend loan you are seeking for some reason, we will provide you with excellent expert advice and suggestions to enhance your chances of being approved for future applications. We aim to help you find the best weekend loans for your needs with the least trouble and effort.

A happy Australian customer

Who can apply for a weekend loan?

Anyone at least 18 years old and fully employed in Australia is eligible to apply, and if approved, they will get their funds the same business day. There are no fees for prepayment or prepayment in advance, and the payback schedule is quite flexible. Because we believe that everyone should have access to financial security, we evaluate each individual’s request for an emergency loan on an individual basis. Weekend loans are a great way to tide over tight situations with a short-term finance option.

When applying for a loan with CashPal, you’ll need to provide personal details. This allows us to verify your identity and assess your financial standing to guarantee that you can repay the loan.

Acceptable forms of identification

Please present one of the following:

  • Australian driver’s licence
  • Medicare number
  • Australian passport number
  • Residence details
  • Current address details
  • Specifics of your employment and income
  • Documentation verifying your recent employment

You must submit a copy of the following documents for all types of employment (full-time, part-time, or casual): your most recent 2 sequential electronic pay stubs, your bank authorisation through a secure portal, or your most recent three months of bank statements. If you are a contractor or self-employed individual, please submit a copy of:

  • Bank clearance for the most current assessment notice through a secure portal, or three months’ worth of personal and business bank statements.
  • A description of your supplementary earnings, government aid, current loans, and spending.
  • If we are unable to reach you, please provide the contact information of a close friend or family member.

The paperwork required is standard and not cumbersome, so you can be sure that the weekend loan application process is as seamless as possible.

How our weekend loan repayments work

When applying for a weekend loan, you can choose whether to make weekly, biweekly, or monthly payments. After you’ve been given a loan, you’ll need to start making payments. The system will send an email outlining your initial payback date, and you will get a reminder the day before each payment is due. Direct debit will be used to collect repayments from your bank account at the scheduled intervals (for example, weekly payments will be deducted from your account at the same time each week).

Before making a payment, please check to see if there is enough money in your account to cover it. We are happy to accommodate payback schedules that are weekly, biweekly, or monthly. Payment schedules will be established at the outset of the contract and will be based on the terms you agreed upon — for example, if your payback schedule is weekly, money will be taken out of your account on the same day each week.

Weekend loan FAQs

Can I actually apply on a Saturday or Sunday?+

Yes. The application form is online and open seven days a week, so you can apply whenever the problem appears rather than waiting for Monday.

Will I be approved and funded over the weekend?+

Applications are assessed on business days, so a weekend application is generally assessed the next business day. Weekend bank processing also affects when approved funds appear in your account.

Why bother applying on the weekend then?+

Because it puts you at the front of the queue. An application submitted on Sunday is assessed first thing Monday rather than after you have found time to fill in the form.

What if the cost genuinely cannot wait until Monday?+

Check the free options first — many energy, water and telco providers have after-hours hardship lines, and the National Debt Helpline on 1800 007 007 offers free financial counselling. Those may solve it at no cost.

Before you apply — risks, reasons for decline, and alternatives

A small loan solves a short-term gap; it is not free money, and it is not right for every situation. Worth asking yourself first:

  • Do I actually need this? A short-term loan suits an essential or unexpected cost, not discretionary spending.
  • Can I afford the repayments? Check them against your real income and expenses, not your best month.
  • Am I borrowing the right amount? Fees are charged on the amount borrowed, so a smaller loan costs less.
  • Would another option cost less? If one of the alternatives below fits, use it first.

Why applications get declined. We are required to lend only where repayments are affordable, so an application is most often unsuccessful because:

  • The repayments would not be affordable alongside your current commitments
  • Income cannot be verified, or is not regular enough to assess
  • Recent defaults, an active hardship arrangement, or several short-term loans already running
  • Frequent dishonours or overdrawn balances in recent banking history
  • Application details do not match the supporting information provided
  • The basic criteria are not met — under 18, or not an Australian resident

A decline is not permanent. It usually reflects the last few months of banking history, so applying again after that settles often gives a different outcome.

Alternatives worth trying first. Depending on your situation, one of these may cost you nothing:

  • No Interest Loans (NILs) — up to $2,000 for essentials with no interest and no fees, for people on a low income or with a concession card. Call 13 64 57 or visit nils.com.au.
  • Centrelink advance payment — if you receive eligible payments, you may be able to draw part of it early, repaid from future payments at no cost. Call 13 17 94 or visit servicesaustralia.gov.au.
  • Your provider’s hardship program — energy, water, telco and council bills can usually be put on a payment plan, often with the debt paused, simply by asking.
  • Free financial counselling — the National Debt Helpline on 1800 007 007 is free, independent and confidential, and can negotiate with creditors on your behalf.
  • Impartial guidance — ASIC’s MoneySmart compares options and explains what each really costs.

What a CashPal loan costs

Fees on small loans are capped by Australian law. CashPal cannot charge more than these caps, and a small amount credit contract carries no interest beyond them.

Establishment fee ($500–$2,000)Up to 20% of the amount borrowed
Monthly feeUp to 4% per month
Establishment fee ($2,001–$5,000)Up to $400
Interest on larger loansUp to 48% p.a.
Early repayment feeNil

These are the maximum regulated caps, not a quote. The fees that apply to you are itemised in your contract before you sign, and you are under no obligation to accept an offer.

Source: the National Credit Code, Schedule 1 to the National Consumer Credit Protection Act 2009 (s 31A for small amount contracts, s 32A for medium amount contracts).

Representative example

Borrowing $1,000 over 6 months

Amount borrowed$1,000
Establishment fee (20%)$200
Monthly fee (4% × 6)$240
Total repayable$1,440
weekly
$55.38
fortnightly
$110.77
monthly
$240.00

How this is worked out

The establishment fee is 20% of the amount borrowed, charged once. The monthly fee is 4% of the amount borrowed, charged for each month of the term. Total repayable = amount borrowed + establishment fee + monthly fees.

Assumes the maximum regulated fees, every repayment made on time, no default or dishonour fees, and the loan running its full term. Repaying early costs less — there is no early repayment fee, and you stop paying monthly fees once the loan is closed. Your own figures are set out in your contract.
